One recent hit I looked at was Lil Nas X's "INDUSTRY BABY" featuring Jack Harlow (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eg-AwKRUFec). Only about a week ago a friend showed me this song and for a genre of music I don't regularly listen to, this definitely grabbed my attention.
The lyrics are about his recent explosion in success and references some of his past controversies like his "Satan Shoes". The instrumentals on this song are incredibly catchy to listen to and Jack Harlow's section in the music which leads right back into the chorus to the ending made for a memorable piece to replay in your head. Though most people have probably listened to this, I can't recommend enough that you check this out if you haven't!
Another song which took me by surprise was "The Writing on the Wall" by Iron Maiden (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhBnW7bZHEE). After five years since their last album The Book of Souls, they would release this song and eventually the new album Senjutsu following it. The song follows four masked riders on their way to defeat an adversary before the inevitable happens. At a slower tempo, along with the animated music video, this song tells this great tale with the use of it's lyrics setting up every scene. An example of this is every time the chorus sings, "Have you seen the writing on the wall?" and shortly after, "Can you see the riders on the storm?" this indicates that the riders are doing something pivotal and illustrates it well in the video. This song paired with the music video I can say is an amazing journey I'd love to have anyone experience at least once.
From a band I've heard of, but not listen to frequently is a new single called "Pantheum" by First Fragment (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mU_qLoa3Ds). The more extreme genres of metal being my preference of music, this one immediately hooked me in with the explosive guitar solo at the start chromatically rising into winding bends and extremely fast runs. The high tempo keeps supplies a constant amount of energy as you listen to it and the instrument work of every single person in the band just makes it better. The lyrics (in French) depict a godless city with no laws. With that in mind, back to how the songs tempo is and how intense the musicians are. It clearly defines the chaos which is happening within this fictional city. I don't know many that like this particular genre of music, but I ask you to at least witness the skill of the band members and recognize the amount of work put into this impressive form of art.
